The Unheard
Five energetic robotic horns rush across the market like exuberant children. They happily chase after a cyclist, mischievously circle around a hugging couple, or gaze at passersby with a questioning and endearing look. Do they open their mouths wide in the hope that we will listen to them? Or are they enormous ears, poised to hear our story?
Politicians, experts, and citizens with strong opinions love to make their voices heard on public channels and social media. The loudest voices often get the most attention. In the polarization of public debate, the nuanced and conciliatory voice of the middle is drowned out by the language of extremes.
CREW deploys the horn robots as megaphones for the unheard voice. Their inspiration comes from the work of Hamja Ashan: Shy Radicals, the antisystemic politics of the introvert militant, which outlines a society led by the quiet introvert.
